"VEN" is a bold exploration of reduction in both material use and environmental impact. The name "VEN," which means "friend" in Danish, reflects the design’s intention to create a welcoming, comforting embrace for the user. By eliminating traditional foam, the design rethinks how lounge chairs are typically constructed. Instead of relying on bulky foam for comfort, "VEN" uses a hollow structure reinforced with a special, shrinkable textile, developed specifically for this purpose. This innovative approach drastically reduces material consumption while maintaining the softness and support expected in high-end lounge furniture.

The intent behind "VEN" is rooted in reduction for sustainability, aiming to influence how both designers and consumers think about upholstered furniture. Traditional methods often involve a significant amount of foam, which is resource-intensive and contributes to a big environmental footprint. By removing this element "VEN" offers a more sustainable solution without sacrificing comfort or aesthetic appeal.
The organic curves of the chair invite interaction, offering an experience that is both emotionally engaging and functionally innovative. "VEN" embodies a broader focus on reduction, not just in terms of materials, but also in creating a more streamlined, friendly form. It encourages us to rethink how we design for a sustainable future.
